Bard AI Updates Brings Deeper Integration with Google Apps

Google Bard has been making strides in the realm of artificial intelligence, demonstrating Google’s commitment to competing with the likes of ChatGPT and BingAI. Initially, Bard had the appeal of conducting searches for users via Google search, but it was limited to basic searches and page suggestions during its early stages. It couldn’t harness the full spectrum of Google’s services and features. However, a recent announcement on Google’s development blog has changed the game.

Google has unveiled an updated version of the Bard AI model. This update enhances Bard’s existing “Google it” capability, allowing users to cross-verify Bard’s search results for accuracy. What’s even more intriguing is that Bard can now integrate with and make use of various apps within the Google ecosystem, expanding its range of services for users.

This development signifies Google’s ongoing efforts to stay competitive in the ever-evolving field of artificial intelligence, offering users a more comprehensive and integrated AI experience. With the ability to tap into Google’s suite of apps and services, Bard is poised to provide users with an even wider range of functionalities and assistance.

The recent enhancements to Google Bard are introduced as “Bard Extensions,” and they empower Bard to seamlessly interact with the Google apps and services that you commonly utilize for a multitude of tasks and inquiries. With the introduction of Bard Extensions, Bard can now establish connections with an array of Google offerings, including Google Docs, Google Drive, Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps, and even services related to flights and hotels through Google Flights and Google Hotels.

This expansion of Bard’s capabilities enables users to seamlessly integrate Bard with their preferred Google applications, streamlining various tasks and enhancing the overall user experience. Whether it’s managing documents, accessing maps and travel information, or communicating through email, Bard Extensions broaden the scope of Bard’s utility within the Google ecosystem.

Using these extensions, Bard is equipped to furnish you with the utmost pertinent information and services in response to your queries. Moreover, it can proficiently navigate across several apps simultaneously, orchestrating a harmonized approach to deliver the most optimal solutions for your needs.

“For example, if you’re planning a trip to the Grand Canyon (a project that takes up many tabs), you can now ask Bard to grab the dates that work for everyone from Gmail, look up real-time flight and hotel information, see Google Maps directions to the airport, and even watch YouTube videos of things to do there — all within one conversation,” explains Yury Pinsky, Director, Product Management, Bard, in Google’s announcement.

Google has addressed concerns regarding the security of allowing Bard access to your Google apps. They have assured that none of the data accessed by Bard is viewed by human eyes. Furthermore, this information will not be utilized to train Bard’s model, nor will it serve as a platform for delivering advertisements.
