ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery have announced their collaboration to introduce a groundbreaking sports streaming platform set to debut in the fall. This platform will consolidate offerings from over 15 networks and feature content from all major professional sports leagues.

For sports enthusiasts, this all-in-one app will be a game-changer, offering relief from the hassle of subscribing to multiple services to catch their favorite games.

Kevin Krim, the CEO of EDO, likened this collaboration to the early days of Hulu in 2008, suggesting that the trio is leveraging the success of past ventures to revolutionize live sports streaming.

Each of the three companies will hold an equal one-third stake in this joint venture, with details regarding the service’s name and pricing to be disclosed later.

David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, expressed excitement about the innovation and enhanced choices this service will provide to sports fans.

The platform will feature a wide array of sports content, including games from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, WNBA, NASCAR, and college sports like the NCAA Tournament. Additionally, it will offer coverage of golf, tennis, and the FIFA World Cup.

Subscribers can expect content from 15 linear networks, including ESPN, ESPN2, SEC Network, and ABC, among others, along with ESPN+.

Moreover, subscribers will have the option to bundle this service with Disney+, Hulu, and/or Max, catering to the diverse preferences of sports enthusiasts.

Lachlan Murdoch, CEO and Executive Chair of Fox, emphasized that this service aims to cater to passionate sports fans by providing a comprehensive platform for sports content consumption.

This announcement coincides with negotiations between ESPN, Warner Bros. Discovery, and the NBA regarding the renewal of their rights, underlining the significance of this strategic move in the ever-evolving sports media landscape.

Bob Iger, CEO of the Walt Disney Company, hailed the launch of this streaming sports service as a pivotal moment for Disney and ESPN, offering consumers access to a wide range of sports programming alongside content from other industry leaders.
