NFL Announces Suspensions for Multiple Players

A wave of NFL players is now facing official suspensions for various infractions as the roster cut deadline has come and gone, and Week 1 is just around the corner. In total, there will be 20 players serving suspensions when the 2023 season kicks off on Thursday, September 7.

The comprehensive list, shared by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, features a range of players, many of whom were already known to be facing suspensions. Notably, some of these suspensions are related to gambling, with Detroit Lions’ second-year wide receiver Jameson Williams among those affected.

NFL player may be on the verge of joining the list of suspended players

Titans running back and former Michigan standout Hassan Haskins has faced a series of setbacks, including a recent placement on the Commissioner Exempt List following his summer arrest. This news follows his earlier placement on the injured reserve, which is likely to bring an end to his 2023 season.

Haskins, drafted in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft from Michigan, had completed his rookie season in Tennessee with 93 rushing yards and 57 receiving yards.

The arrest stemmed from allegations of aggravated assault by strangulation in two separate incidents involving his girlfriend, Makiah Green. In the first incident, Haskins is accused of strangling Green. The second incident involved Green allegedly throwing a glass at Haskins, ripping a chain off his neck, breaking his phone, and assaulting him. Green herself was also arrested and charged with aggravated assault by strangulation and felony vandalism.

The Titans made this roster move after concluding their preseason schedule with a 2-1 record. They are set to kick off their regular season against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, September 10th at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
